Socitm has published details of additional content for its annual conference, Socitm 2009, being held this year in Edinburgh.
The conference, entitled Re-inventing local public services - radical thinking, practical solutions is a 'must-attend' event at which delegates will be challenged to do some radical thinking about how public services can manage rising demand against the certainty of diminished resources resulting from the credit crunch and world recession.
The newly announced sessions include:
- Responding locally to the Operational Efficiency Review
- Social media: are ICT managers blocking modern ways of working - and is it a problem?
- What does it take to make outsourcing work?
- Reinventing local public services: a cloud centric approach
- Customer access and channel management
- eCare Programme - sharing personal data in Scotland
- The Council of the future
- Your organisation and sustainable ICT
- Milton Keynes, digital inclusion and Wi-max
- Is there something you should know?
- Delivery Management and IT Professionalism
- Evolving the website through social media and data sharing
- The Cloud - local government's brightest opportunity
These sessions are in addition to the headline sessions which feature:

Adrian Joseph, Managing Director of Google Enterprise Europe, Middle East and Africa, who will provide a roadmap to radical changes ahead in ICT infrastructure when he talks about 'Cloud Futures'.
Jason Lowther Director of Policy and Delivery at Birmingham City Council, on how Europe's largest local authority is using a customer-led approach to square the circle of improving services and reducing costs
North Ayrshire chief Elma Murray on why management of information holds the key to successful resolution of current challenges
Author Robina Chatham on corporate politics for it managers and how to get streetwise, and
