Crunch time for public sector ICT?: Socitm National Conference 23 April asks the question
Published Monday 2nd February 09
Public service ICT: dealing with a different sort of 'crunch' is the title of Socitm's National Conference taking place at Stoneleigh Park Conference Centre, Nr Coventry on Thursday 23 April 2009.
The conference programme will consider whether the current economic crisis will force organisations to take a more radical approach to change. ICT facilitated programmes may have improved services and efficiency over recent years, but nothing like as much as was hoped or is needed now.
Topics on the agenda include the impact of the credit crunch on local public services; the Power of Information agenda and what the Government's encouragement of the re-use of public sector information means for local authorities; case studies on customer access and how some councils are using the concept of 'avoidable contact' to re-invigorate transformation; and how third sector organisations are working with local government on digital inclusion.
The event will be supported by an exhibition of relevant products and services, and the programme will include a series of supplier demonstrations in the exhibition area throughout the day.
Socitm members can attend the event for as little as £100 if they book their place during the 'early bird' booking period up to 27 February.
Further information and booking is available now at the Socitm website.
