Branding update for Socitm
Friday 19th June 2009
The Socitm Board has agreed an update to the organisation’s visual identity to reflect the way Socitm has evolved over the last 18 months.
The historic vote by members in October 2008 means that in future Socitm will be recruiting and supporting the professional development of all ICT and related professionals working across the public sector, at all stages of their careers.
Connected with this change, Socitm is looking to develop communities of members from different sectors (third sector, housing, police, fire etc) and from different areas and levels of professional interest (security, web, information management, CIO etc). The new branding also communicates a broadening of Socitm's scope to cover not just 'IT' but also the wider concept of 'information'. By putting emphasis on the 'i' in 'Socitm' (a suggestion arising from discussions with members at the National Advisory Council) the new visual identity highlights this development too. Our new strapline 'information, innovation and improvement', which emerged at recent discussions with our activity streams, will be used as an integral part of the logo, and also independently, communicating two other 'i' words that are central to Socitm's vision and purpose.
The branding update will be phased in so as to minimise the cost of the change. Members may therefore see both old and new versions of the visual identity being used over the coming months. Visuals of key elements can be seen in the downloadable document Socitm branding update june 09.
