IT Trends

Regular participants know that Socitm’s IT Trends survey report is free of charge to the organisations that complete the survey, which is available now, and should to be submitted by June 30. Pre-populated survey forms have already been sent to organisations that have taken part recently.

The survey report is a highly authoritative source of information about ICT capital and revenue spending, trends in technology and software usage, staffing, management and status of IT departments, IT facilitated efficiency programmes, and a host of related issues.

In the immediate aftermath of the Coalition Government's £6bn cuts package, including the freeze on all new IT expenditure over £1m, and the prospect of severe austerity ahead for the public sector, these are challenging times for public sector IT.

However, as Socitm President Jos Creese has said elsewhere, the current crisis may represent a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for CIOs and heads of IT to lead our organisations to build a more mature approach to IT investment.

In this year of all years, Socitm is looking for a bumper return of survey - so please do your bit by sending one in, and don't forget, you will get a free copy of the survey report if you do!

IT Trends 2010/11 Survey forms are downloadable from the IT Trends page on this website.
