Workshop Facilitator: Tony Riding

Tony Riding is an independent consultant, and Principal Associate with Socitm Insight and Socitm Consulting, applying his experience in e-government, organisational development, regional working, CRM, call centres, electronic service delivery and members information systems. Tony is author of a number of Socitm Insight reports including Improving Customer Service. As a consultant Tony has undertaken assignments for the GLA, Birmingham City Council, and a range of unitary, district and county councils.  In this capacity he has assisted a number of authorities in recruiting Heads of ICT.  For five years Tony was Chief IT Officer with Leeds City Council and prior to joining Leeds he was Director of Information at Wakefield Health Authority. He has also worked in higher education and for IT suppliers as well as with Northamptonshire County Council.  He is an ex-Chair of Socitm Yorkshire and Humber and now provides support to the regional group.

Workshop Facilitator: Marty Carroll

Marty is Director of The Usability Company, which helps many organisations, including public sector organisations, improve the effectiveness of their websites, interactive Digital TV and WAP services, Intranets and various other software applications. As the Director of Usability Practice, he heads up the team of Usability and Accessibility Specialists and Information Architects. He is the author of a number of papers on usability and he has written features for many newspapers and magazines including the FT and the Guardian. Marty is the founder of the UK Chapter of the Usability Professionals Association and has degrees in both psychology and HCI.

Workshop Facilitator: Stephen Cirell

Stephen Cirell is a Partner and Head of Local Government at Eversheds, and one of the foremost experts on local government law.   Since joining Eversheds in 1993, he has built up the Local Government Group of the firm to the position where it is independently acknowledged as the leader in this field.  He is nationally known for his writing on Best Value, PFI and E-commerce and is the co-author or contributor to 10 books on Local Government Law, with John Bennett, spanning a decade.  He has written over 300 articles on and has lectured widely in relation to all aspects of local government law.

Workshop Facilitator: Les Worrall

Professor Les Worrall is Associate Dean (Research) at the University of Wolverhampton Business School.  Since 1998, he has been running the Socitm Insight user satisfaction benchmarking service.  He has published extensively on organisational analysis especially in the public sector.  He previously worked in local government in strategic and information management.

Workshop Facilitator: Malcolm Taylor

Malcolm Taylor joined Citizens Advice in 2002 to work on e-government issues as part of the £20 Million DTI funded "Citizens Connect" programme. As the organisation's e-government project manager, Malcolm believes that the CAB are a key intermediary for the delivery of e-services to the socially excluded. Malcolm has 20 years experience of working in the public and private sectors most recently as an e-services consultant in investment banking and the media.

Workshop Facilitator: Nick Easton

Nick is a Programme Manager in the Economic and Environment Division at the LGA responsible for the LGA's work on community and political leadership; Local Public Service Agreements; e-government;local elections and the work of the environment and regeneration executive.
