Networks
Socitm is an inclusive Society and open to everyone working in or for public services with a professional interest in information and technology management. Within this broad church, there are many different groups and communities of interest and expertise. Some are based around sectors (eg fire services and the third sector) and others based around areas of specialist skills or practice (eg web, security, information management, etc).
Socitm encourages members and guests to network through active involvement in groups and communities in order to exchange ideas and information, develop skills and keep up with developments and best practice.
Members are also able to network by participating in activity programmes organised locally by Regional Groups.
Communities are a new and welcome concept within Socitm and provide a valuable means of linking with like-minded people with shared interests and expertise. Socitm is keen to identify and promote existing and emerging Communities throughout the breadth of ICT. Established Groups and Communities include:
- Fire Group
- Delivery Management
- Third Sector
- Programme Management
- Web professionals
- Library professionals
Plans are in place for communities catering for:
- Students
- Young Professionals
- Education (Schools, Colleges, Universities)

Socitm is also keen to hear from members with suggestions for forming new Communities. If you represent a Community or know of a Community that would be interested in linking with Socitm, please email details to Socitm's Head of Membership Ellen Jessett.
