What we do
Introduction
Socitm organises a wide range of professional and commercial activities. Key activities are described below:
Socitm supports IT managers' professional development through a range of schemes, including a short course programme, a Continuing Professional Development Scheme and a Mentoring Scheme.
Socitm runs two national conferences each year, the one-day National Conference held at the end of April, and the three-day Annual Conference in mid-October.
Socitm publishes four major surveys each year: IT Trends, The Survey of Application Software, and Better Connected, the annual survey of all local authority websites.
Socitm's Performance Management Group provides information and best practice advice around performance management and benchmarking. The group also manages the Socitm Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for ICT and the Socitm KPI database.
These KPIs form the basis of a series of benchmarking services that identify and promote best practice. These include: Benchmarking user satisfaction, Benchmarking the ICT service, Benchmarking the ICT workforce, and Benchmarking Outsourced ICT services. Website take up is benchmarked through the Website take-up service.
The Socitm Exchange, available through the link on this site provides one-stop access to key e/t-government resources, support and best practice. Personalised email alerts are also available.
Socitm produces a wide range of publications on all aspects of ICT management and e-government.
Socitm Consulting provides ICT management, e-government, procurement/partnership and technology consultancy to local authorities, other public services and private sector organisations working in the public sector.
Socitm Insight is a subscription service that identifies and promotes best practice in ICT management in the public sector. Socitm Insight reports are aimed at ICT managers, e-champions and senior managers in local authorities and other public services. They are also extremely useful to commercial organisations working in the sector.
