South West Regional Event

The next Socitm South West regional event is planned for 26 June 2009 at Sandy Park Conference Centre near Exeter. Sponsored by Bull, the broad theme of the event will be Shared Services.

The programme will include:

• An overview from Mike McCaig of Bull on some of the joint venture projects they have been involved in, working with a number of Local Authorities across the UK.
• Roger Cooper of Valueadding will review their experience in implementing a single contact centre for a range of council services and the key challenges it produced for IT.
• Peter Drew of Socitm Consulting will outline some of the key issues and challenges to implementing shared services, review the key drivers for implementing change, and discuss some of the barriers inhibiting implementation...
• Pauleen Blampied of South Hams will describe their experience in working with neighbouring districts in the delivery of a number of key services
• Natalie Smith of PA Consulting will give an overview of EAS (Employee Authentication Service), which provides a means of providing employees with a single authenticated sign on. This project is being run by DCSF and with the help of PA Consulting early adopters are welcomed. Natalie will discuss the rationale behind EAS, its advantages and requirements for implementation.
