South West Regional Event

The next South West event is planned for Friday Sept 11th at Sandy Park Conference centre near Exeter. Sponsored by Vistorm.

The programme will include:

  • George Burgess, Vistorm's Client Engagement Manager, will explain how, by introducing a process of continual improvement and effective governance, security costs can be reduced by 30% in 12 months.
  • Martin Ferguson, Socitm's newly appointed Policy Officer who will review the key points from the Digital Britain report, will outline Socitm's response to it, and will outline his new role and plans. Martin will also cover some the responses to the recent 'Operational Efficiency Programme'.
  • Mark Brett from Socitm explain the Local Government Data Handling Guidelines, which seek to provide an essential checklist to their responsibilities and accountability for secure and effective handling of personal information.
  • Aligned with Mark's session, Richard Woodfield, Plymouth's Corporate Information Officer ,will review the 'Practical Implications of Classifying Data'
  • Finally David Ripley, a Principal Consultant from Silversands will cover VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) - the technology and how it can be deployed effectively.
