The technology challenge in 2011

Produced by: Socitm Insight

Type: Reports

Our annual review of technology provides an overview of IT trends and insight into the dynamics of the IT industry.

Introduction

In March 2011 we produced a summary from our latest technology report on how to respond to the unprecedented funding crisis facing the public sector, following a turbulent year and the most draconian financial settlement for the public sector since 1945.

Here we provide the detailed guidance. We have related nearly all our analysis to the components in the Planning for ICT framework and provided a printed executive summary and this detailed report, available on www.socitm.net rather than a CD-Rom as in previous years.

Our aim each year is to provide an overview of the strategic technology trends that will affect the world of local government, and related parts of the public sector. We produce this by:

  • examining the IT world as seen by Gartner, the leading IT research company worldwide
  • relating the trends to the future direction of local government.

In doing this, we reduce an enormous amount of material, research and advice to a manageable level that can be used by subscribers to plan the way that they use information technology.

The document produced here is targeted at CIOs, heads of IT and their technology managers and specialists and will focus on the technology advice.

The 400 page report is available free of charge by Socitm Insight subscribers.

We regret that it is not available for sale to non-Insight subscribers and Socitm members (who do not subscribe to Socitm Insight).
