Our new web-based Applications Register provides a unique resource for organisations interested in comparing the performance of different software products and the companies that supply them.

The Software Index has been superseeded by Socitm's Applications Register, the online service offering a single source of information about hardware, software, IT and consultancy services used by local public service organisations across the UK.

We aim to assist both buyers and suppliers of software to understand better the large and complex market of local public services and to help deliver better value for money.

The software market covered by our database is worth an estimated £500 million a year (Source: IT Trends 2010-11). The register contains 30,000 information entries from 526 local public service organisations and covers 2,200 products, spread over 160 different business functions.

This summary provides an indication of the analysis that is possible using the Applications Register.
