The publication by the Central Office of Information (CoI) in June 2010 of some very interesting data in a document entitled Reporting on progress: Central government websites 2009/10 has provided a rare opportunity for comparing website costs, take-up and quality with local government.

The CoI prescribed methods for measuring take-up and satisfaction that are very similar to those used by our Website take-up service (indeed Socitm shared its methods with CoI before the guidance for central government sites was drawn up) and so we are in a position to compare results from both sectors
