Socitm response to NI 14 'avoidable contact' indicator
Produced by: SIAG
Type: Consultations
This document sets Socitm's response to the CLG consultation on NI 14 which closed on 21 December 2007. NI 14 is one of 198 new national indicators for local authorities and local area partnerships.
NI 14 will also become one of two key progress measures set out in the Service Transformation Agreement, also published as part of the Comprehensive Spending Review.
The new national indicators will be the only means of measuring national priorities that have been agreed by Government. The Local Government White Paper Strong and Prosperous Communities committed to a smaller more focussed set of priorities as well as radically reduce the number of national indicators.
The headline definitions for the 198 indicators were announced on 11 October 2007 by Hazel Blears. The consultation has been undertaken to ensure that the methodology for measuring individual national indicators at a local level is sound.
Following the consultation the National Indicators for Local Authorities and Local Authority Partnerships: Handbook of Definitions will be published by CLG.
