Transformation case studies
Produced by: Socitm
Type: Case studies
The 100 case studies featured in this document were collected by Socitm in November 2005 to demonstrate the transformational projects and programmes...
These case studies were collected to accompany the Socitm exhibit at the EU Ministerial eGovernment Conference - Transforming Public Services, which took place in Manchester, 24-25 November 2005.
The Socitm exhibit was part of a wider initiative on business transformation launched by the Society earlier in 2005, partly in response to the efficiency agenda, as our 'e2Government' campaign. Our aim was to promote a more radical, more ambitious version of 'e-government' - one that would use ICT-facilitated change to transform our organisations, enabling them to deliver more and better services using fewer resources.
The source of this initiative is the work of Socitm members, through our activity groups as well as through the work they are doing in their 'day jobs'. In September 2005 we put out a call for members to send in short case studies of the transformational projects and programmes they are delivering in their organisations. Over one hundred cases were sent in over a two-week period.
The variety and depth of information we gathered has provided a rich source of material for analysis and incorporation into what we Socitm has been doing to support transformational change in locally delivered public services. 35 of the case studies also appear in the Socitm Insight publication Modern Public Services: Transformation in Practice.
