This is Socitm's response to the Cabinet Office's November 2005 paper Transformational Government: enabled by technology.

There is a general agreement that the Government's IT strategy as set out in the document Transformational Government - enabled by technology clearly identifies most of the key issues and represents a good foundation from which local authorities (and other organisations across the public sector) can begin to engage with the concepts and practical implications of 'Transformational Government'.

Socitm's response to the transformational government strategy was delivered before specific information relating to local government and its engagement in the process, had been made available.
